did you know? say “friend” all over the world

How do people all over the  world say the word “friends”?

In Albania  they say “mik”, in China “péngyou”, in Holland  people say “vriend”, in Danemark a friend is called  “ven”, in France “ami”, in Germany “Freund”, in Hungary “barát”, in India a friend is “dost”, in Italy (guess what?)
“amico”, in Ireland people say “cara”, in Japan “tomodachi”, the Romans used to call their friend “amicus”, the Anglo-Saxons used the old-english word “freond”, in Russia a friend is called “prijátel” and in Spain the word is “amigo”.

uhm… am wondering for the Finnish word for “friend”… can anybody help me? 😉

  1. I found that the Finnish word for “friend” is “ystava”… It’s very strange… 🙂

  2. If you are interested in how we can say “friend” in Arabic it looks like صديق ………………………………..and it is pronounced mlalamll…..yes, believe me.

  3. It’ s right but it is written “ystävä”…another way to say friend in Finnish is “kaveri”
