did you know?

Ever heard about Feng Shui?

Feng Shui (English pronunciation fʌŋ / ʃweI)  is an ancient science which was born in China over 3,000 years ago.

It tells us how to take advantage of the positive energy in a place, in particular our home, in order to assure health and good fortune to the people that live there.

Feng means wind and shui means water.

With Feng shui  we can learn how to design or re-arrange the spaces in our bedroom, or in our home, in order to get the most from the positive energy of the universe, called Chi.

Did you know that according to Feng Shui the simple position of our bed, or of the desk where we work can influence our health and cause  for example headaches, tiredness, school problems, and so on?

Of course Feng Shui is a science, and it would take a lot of time to study it in depth. But by learning some simple rules of Feng Shui , we can try to improve the space in which we spend most of our days and nights.

Think of your bedroom for example. 😉 How is it organized? What colour is it? Where is the bed? Have you got a computer or a TV in your bedroom? Is there a mirror?  What kind of posters are there on your wall? Are there any plants?

Now consider the following chart, which highlights the things that help creating a “good feng shui” and the things that create a “bad feng shui” in your bedroom:

GOOD FENG SHUI BAD FENG SHUI

COLOURS FROM WHITE TO DARK BROWN

COMPUTER, TV, HI-FI STEREO in the bedroom
OPEN THE WINDOW OFTEN to let the Chi circulate MIRRORS, especially mirrors facing BED
DIFFERENT LEVELS OF LIGHTS, preferably CANDLES PLANTS in your bedroom
POSITION THE BED FAR FROM ELECTRIC APPLIANCES KEEPING EXERCISE EQUIPMENT IN YOUR BEDROOM
IMAGES OF THINGS that you want to happen  in your life on the wall CHANDELIER OR CHIMES ABOVE YOUR BED
THE BED MUST BE ACCESSIBLE FROM BOTH SIDES BED IN DIRECT LINE WITH THE DOOR
TWO BEDSIDE TABLES TOO MANY PICTURES OF DIFFERENT PEOPLE
KEEP ALL THE DOORS CLOSED AT NIGHT (also the doors of your wardrobe) STORING MANY THINGS UNDER YOUR BED (the energy around you must circulate at night)

BED IN A CORNER or UNDER THE WINDOW

KEEPING AN AQUARIUM (aquariums are traditionally used, according to feng shui, in other rooms of the house to ensure wealth and money, but they should NEVER be in a bedroom)

SHARP ANGLES (from wall or furniture corners) pointing at you while you sleep

If you have just discovered that your bedroom is ruled by bad feng shui, don’t worry… you’re not the only one! 😉 See if you can make some simple changes in order to have more positive Chi circulating around you, day and night… and let us know if these changes have worked!

p.s. the wise man says: “a couple of Mandarin ducks is ALL you need to make your love life work

  1. Of course I haven’t any plants or aquariums in my bedroom but that doesn’t mean that my room is ruled by a right feng shui because I have a computer and a TV in it! And I can’t make any changes because there isn’t much space to do it… But I think that my worries originate from school and life… out of my room! 😉

    • I understand… 😉 try to counterbalance the bad feng shui keeping the computer west on your desk… and remember never to sit with a window or an open bookcase at your back…

  2. I think it’s a bit difficult to change the position of chandelier. It’s above my bed! But I don’t have any mirrors in my bedroom. I don’t want to watch my face when I wake up! 😀

  3. My bedroom is too small..and (unfortunately) I have to share it with my brother. This position of my bed is the only solution to have a “quiet living”.
