The words for it: travelling

Very often, we get confused about which word to use when talking about travels… here is a short list for you 🙂

verbs for travelling

to travel – to go from one place to another, usually to a far away place

to make a journey – to travel from one place to another

to make a trip – to make a journey to a particular place

to go on a cruise – to make a holiday on a ship visiting different places

to hitchhike – to travel by getting lifts from passing cars

particular nouns for travelling

a ride – a journey on a horse, or bicycle, or motorcycle

a drive – a journey in a car or another vehicle

a flight – a journey made by flying, usually in an airplane

a voyage – a long journey on a ship or in a spacecraft
