Movie time: Back to the Future part 2

Hello world!

I’m back to introduce to you the second episode from the saga “Back to the Future”!

Back to the Future, Part II is a 1989 American science fiction comedy film directed by Robert Zemeckis, written by Zemeckis and Bob Gale, and stars Michael J. Fox, Christopher Lloyd, Thomas F. Wilson and Lea Thompson.

Part 1 of the saga had ended with  Doc’s sudden appearance: he told Marty and Jennifer that they had to make a new travel in the future.

Part 2 begins with Doc’s explanation about the new time travel: Marty and Jennifer will have to travel to 2015 to save their future child!

In fact, when they arrive on October 21st, 2015, Doc electronically hypnotizes Jennifer and “exchanges” Marty’s future son with Marty, so that he can refuse an offer from Biff’s cybernetically-enhanced grandson, Griff Tannen. Marty successfully switches places with his son and refuses Griff’s offer, but Griff involves Marty into a fist fight, which only ends in Griff and his gang crashing and getting arrested: now Marty’s future child is safe.

On the way back where Doc is waiting for him, Marty buys a Sports Almanac, a book containing the results of the major sporting events from 1950 to 2000. Doc discovers Marty’s purchase and warns him about attempting to profit from time travel, but they are interrupted because they are forced to follow the police who have found Jennifer, still unconscious, and are taking her to her future home. Old Biff, listening to their conversation and remembering the DeLorean from 1985, follows them, carrying with him the Sports Almanac, accidentally dropped by Marty.

Jennifer wakes up in her future home and hides while the McFly family are having dinner together.  She overhears that Marty’s life is not what they had expected because of a car accident in which he had been involved. While escaping from the house, Jennifer meets her older self and they both faint.  Marty and Doc run to retrieve the young Jennifer but, when they leave the DeLorean, old Biff steals it to travel back to 1955 to give the sports almanac to his teenage self, and finally returns to 2015. Marty, Doc and an unconscious Jennifer, unaware of Old Biff’s actions, return to 1985.

Marty and Doc soon discover that the 1985 to which they have just returned has changed dramatically: Biff has become billionaire and corrupted, and has changed Hill Valley into a chaotic dystopia; Marty’s father had been murdered in 1973, and Biff had forced his mother, Lorraine, to marry him. Moreover, Doc had been committed to an insane asylum. Doc understands Biff’s trip to the past in the DeLorean and that the sports almanac is the reason of this  “new” present, so he tells Marty he needs to know when the “future” Biff had received the almanac, in order to “correct” the time line. Marty decides to confront Biff about the almanac and the corrupted Tannen reveals that he had received the book from an old man on November 12th, 1955 who had told him that, following the almanac and betting on it, he would never lose. The old man had also told Biff to get rid of  the person who would question him about the almanac, so Biff attempts to kill Marty. He also reveals that he had killed George, and allowed Hill Valley to be taken over by crime to prevent being caught for it. However, Marty manages to escape with Doc and, with the new information, they return to 1955.

Marty works undercover  and assists to old Biff’s arrival from the future. However, he is unable to retrieve the book, so he is forced, with Doc’s help, to try to get the book back during the night of the school ball, being careful to avoid undoing the events that he had already corrected during his previous visit! After a struggle, Marty takes the almanac from Biff, who crashes his car into a manure truck (yes, the same situation of the 1st episode! :D) as Doc and Marty “fly away” in the DeLorean.

Marty burns the almanac and restores the correct time line, but the DeLorean is hit by a lightning and disappears. However, a mysterious courier arrives a few minutes later and gives Marty a seventy-year-old letter: it’s from Doc, who has been trapped in 1885 after the lightning crash! Marty goes back to town and finds the Doc of 1955, who has just sent the original Marty back to 1985 a few seconds earlier. Doc is shocked by his friend’s sudden re-appearance and faints!

Part 3 is coming!!!

Stay tuned 😉
