Card 4 – The Emperor

Let’s talk about the fourth of the magical cards of the Tarot: the Emperor.
We know that historically speaking an emperor was the ruler of a great dominion which included a lot of different people and countries.

In the game of the Tarot he is represented as an old man seated on a square throne (the form depends on the number of the card (the fourth) and he holds in his hand the key of Ankh, well-known as the “key of life” or the “Egyptian key”.

It is a symbol of knowledge and power on the forces of life and death.

This card indicates good advice and, if upside down, the power that becomes a slave of itself.

Soon we’ll explore the fifth card: the Pope.
