a students' magazine

Hi, I’m new in the blog, so this is my first article. I enjoy Athletics, so I would like to write about this sport!

Athletics isn’t very popular in our country, but I think it is very interesting and entertaining.

Athletics is a collection of sports which can be divided into the following: track and field, road running, race walking, cross-country running and mountain running.  All these disciplines are individual sports except relay races.

Athletic events and competitions are usually organized around an oval track of 400 mts.

Races take place on the track, while track and field takes place in the field enclosed by the track.

The most important and prestigious competitions are the Olympics games, in which a global athletics competition takes place.

There are also the Paralympic Games, which are for Athletes with physical disabilities, who compete in separate international events.

In Paralympic Games competitors are classified by disability, to arrange athletes with a similar disability in the same event.

Among all disciplines I prefer races , in particular sprint. Sprint includes 60 m, 100 m, 200 m, and 400 m.

You surely know who Usain Bolt is!

He is a Jamaican sprinter and is considered the world’s top athlete. He is the first man to hold both the 100 m and 200 m world records and he also set the world record in the 4×100 m relay. He is the reigning Olympic champion in these three events, the first man to win six Olympic gold medals in sprinting, and an eight-time World champion!

By winning 3 gold medals at the 2013 World Championships, Bolt became the most successful athlete in the 30-year history of athletics world championships.

He is the emblem of the world of Athletics  and all people value and appreciate him for his skills.

I hope you liked my first post! By the way, are you interested in athletics, too?

  1. Hi Agnese, and welcome among us! Your post is very interesting, but you didn’t tell us in detail about yourself… It would be very interesting to know more about your training schedule, your diet, and so on! Maybe you can write about yourself in your next article! 🙂
